Dermatoscopy is a professional examination of pigment marks and their possible changes using many times magnification. In our centre, we always examine the client by manual dermatoscopy and the professional eye of a doctor. The optical system of the dermatoscope works as a magnifying glass and enables the mark to be enlarged and zoomed in to determine its size, pigment distribution, predominant colour, the sharpness of its border, and the depth of placement. All of this helps the physician better assess colour changes and study the mark’s structure.
During the examination, the so-called dermatoscopic criteria are assessed.
The mark is evaluated macroscopically in the same way as in self-examination according to the ABCD rules.

B Border – an irregular border
C Colour – colour, suspicious if the mark changes colour, darkens, different types of colours
D Diameter – all marks with a diameter over 5 mm must be shown to a dermatologist
E Elevation – this means that any change in the growth of the mark over the level of the skin (but also in width) is suspicious.
A suspicious mark can be removed by dermatologists. Such marks should be treated mainly in the summer with creams containing protective factors, and in case of any disruption, scratching or unplanned removal, come immediately to a specialist dermatologist. Removing a suspicious mark will not detract from your beauty; on the contrary will add to your health.
