An integral part of the dermatovenerological outpatient clinic is the Department of Venereology, which handles comprehensive care for sexually transmitted diseases and diseases transmitted mainly during sexual intercourse, including the issue of HIV diseases (STD - newer STI - sexually transmitted infections) of adults. In our outpatient clinic, if a sexually transmitted disease (a disease communicable through sexual intercourse) is suspected, we carry out examinations for their identification in both men and women.
Approximately one million people become infected with sexually transmitted infections (STIs) each day. We include among them all infectious diseases that are spread by sexual intercourse or other sexual contact, in which the secretion of mucous membranes, blood, saliva or ejaculate is transmitted. Most have minimal or non-specific symptoms, which make early diagnosis and treatment difficult, and contribute to further epidemic spread. Disease from one of the sexually transmitted diseases is a risk factor for infection with others, with syphilis infection directly increasing the risk of HIV infection threefold. Sexually transmitted diseases have a serious impact on an individual's health.
